Abstract

The article considers the goals, objectives and features of teaching the new school subject “Fundamentals of security and defense of the Motherland” (OBZR) in general education institutions. The main directions for developing students’ safety culture, patriotism and readiness to defend the Motherland are presented. Methodological approaches, implementation difficulties and prospects for the discipline’s development in the context of modern educational standards are analyzed.
